ATLANTA – June 25, 2003 – John Davenport Jr., a founder and the chief executive officer of Atlanta-based Document Technologies (DTI), on June 15 was named the 2002 Southeast Area Entrepreneur Of The Year® by Ernst & Young.

Mr. Davenport was honored in the Consumer & Business Services category during a black-tie event at Atlanta's Grand Hyatt Ballroom. He is a finalist for the U.S. Entrepreneur Of The Year award, to be announced Nov. 22 at a ceremony in Palm Springs, Calif.

"It has been a privilege to work with such wonderful people and it is an honor to accept this award on their behalf," Mr. Davenport said upon accepting the award. "Our growth in these difficult times is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and loyalty of our team."

With more than 15 years' industry experience, Mr. Davenport founded the company in 1998 with his father, who serves as chairman and president of DTI’s Management Services group. The Davenports invested their life savings in founding DTI, using their homes as collateral for additional financing.

Since then, DTI has become the nation's fastest growing document outsourcing company, primarily serving law firms and Fortune 500 corporate clients. Its revenues have increased, on average, more than 100 percent annually during that period and its operations have expanded to include 750 employees across 10 states and the District of Columbia.

Recently, DTI has enhanced its core business focus, emphasizing leading-edge technology services such as electronic data discovery and web-based document hosting, in addition to traditional document management outsourcing. The company this year opened its new National Technology Center, an Atlanta research and development facility.

The Entrepreneur Of The Year Award program was created and is produced by professional services firm Ernst & Young. Recipients of the Entrepreneur Of The Year award become lifetime members of the Entrepreneur Of The Year Hall of Fame.
